FAQs

What time does the show start?

  • Doors open at 8:30pm, show begins PROMPTLY at 9pm.
  • No need to line up earlier than 7:30pm as there are enough seats for everyone!
    • Performers are picked randomly. There is no sign up sheet. See below…

Parking?

  • There is limited free parking in a gated lot adjacent to the theater.
  • Street Parking in the neighborhood.
  • Parking with meters around the area.

When does the open mic list open and how do I sign up?

Due to the high demand for performers eager to grace our stage, we currently have a lottery system to ensure fairness. Upon entry, guests who want to perform will be given a piece of paper to write their name and place it in the performers’ jar. DPL will accept names until the show begins. The list (jar) is closed once the open mic starts. Throughout the show, names are pulled at random.

Please DO NOT line up earlier than 7:30pm for list sign-ups.

How long do we get to perform?

  • Each performer has 3 minutes on the mic.
    • If you go overtime, our DJ will play a minor scratch as a warning to wrap your performance up.
    • Please respect the time limit as we strive to include as many voices as possible.
    • Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we cannot guarantee that everyone who enters their names will read for the night.
  • Please be courteous of the time limit!

Do I need to show a COVID Vaccinated card before entry?

  • No.

Do I have to wear a mask?

  • Masks are highly encouraged within the venue.
  • If you are performing on stage, you may remove your mask but you MUST use a microphone cover during your performance, which the DPL staff will provide.

Are purchased food/concessions allowed into the theatre?

  • Only water in a sealable container is allowed into the venue. Please help us keep our space beautiful.

This program is made possible in part by funding from the Los Angeles Department of Arts and Culture.
